River civilization flourishing along the Nile River in Northern Africa which brought us pyramids, the Sphinx, mummies, hieroglyphics, and many more fascinating items. We'll learn about their geography, explore artifacts, and much more during our "trek" through Egypt.

Essential Question Note Catcher - Egypt
We will review, discuss and brainstorm as a class different items students could choose to write about for each of the essential question categories they have to choose from.

Egypt Reading Guide Packet
Students will read Chapter 2 and complete the provided reading guides for Sections 1, 2, and 4. View/Discuss the PPT's to verify and/or change their answers and explore supplemental information via website explorations, maps, video links, and artifact images. Add Egypt items to Egypt and Mesopotamia Map that is in their WHN.

Compare Kush and Egypt
Use Chapter 2, Section 4 to complete the provided Venn Diagram to compare/contrast Egypt and Kush Civilizations. Work together with your peers and double check your information at the end of class with the provided slide.

Egyptian Social Classes - See Tab Above
Read provided handout on an Egyptian social class and work within a small group to complete a provided graphic organizer, share information with peers, and record peer data in order to have a completed social class graphic organizer. There are several files associated with this project, so I have created a separate tab called SOCIAL CLASSES.
Kingdom Comparison Chart
Students will interpret data using an information chart about the Old, Middle, and New Kingdoms to answer two provided questions. Both the information chart and the questions will be glued into their WHN.

Hieroglyphics and Cartouches
Students will read an article from NOVA titled "Hieroglyphs: Say What?" and use provided PPT slide note copies to learn about the translation of Egyptian Hieroglphics and to answer three provided questions. They will use the Hieroglphyic alphabet to create a cartouche of their own name.
